This Laughing Buddha Figurine is depicted sat on a pile of coins with a three-legged money toad (moon frog). He comes alive at night, as he glows in the dark! A string of prayer beads adorn his neck, and he holds a gold ingot in his left hand. The figurine is mounted on a dark wood-look stand and have great meaning as the Laughing Buddha represents abundance and contentment. It is believed by some that if you rub his round belly, it shall bring you joy and prosperity, whilst rubbing his earlobes will bring you wisdom. These figurines come in a variety of poses, and with the Buddha carrying different auspicious items.
The Laughing buddha is a benevolent god who is reconised amongst Buddhist, Taoists and Shintoists alike, who is seen as a wandering monk who takes the sadness away from the people of the world. He is always pictured smiling or laughing, hence his nickname of the Laughing Buddha. He is the patron saint of Restauranteurs and Bartenders, and when one overeats or has a few too many to drink, it is often jokingly attributed to the Laughing Buddha's influence!
